Session Descriptions:

Opening Keynote
Education: Does God Have an Opinion?  by Israel Wayne
Is education a neutral subject? Does God have a preference for how He wants children to be educated? What does the Bible teach about schooling? Is it different than discipleship? Is there one correct path for education? Are public schools a viable option for Christians? These questions and more will be discussed in this engaging presentation.

Workshop Period 1 –
The Successful Homeschool Dad  by Mike Winter
What is the one thing we can do to best increase the probability of our homeschool success? In this workshop, Mike will share with dads the “secret sauce” of a homeschooling dad’s role, as he focuses on encouraging dads to participate with great effect in their family’s homeschool endeavors, while still maintaining their role as the family provider.

Intentional Living: Life Management for Busy Moms  by Kathie Morrissey
As busy moms, sometimes it seems like it is just impossible to juggle all of our responsibilities. Often we get overwhelmed and the urgent things of the day take over, while our goals are pushed aside. The secret to focusing on the things that matter and keeping our priorities in place is living intentionally. Learn how to strengthen your relationship with God and your family members, as well as how to better manage your home and your time. Say goodbye to stress and overwhelm, and start managing your busy life with purpose!

Workshop Period 2 –
Choosing Your Homeschool Style    by Brook Wayne
Choosing your family’s personal approach in homeschooling can make one’s head spin! This session weighs individual learning styles, curriculum choices, and your own teaching style, providing an introduction to various homeschooling methods. Given by a homeschooling graduate currently homeschooling her own nine children, ranging from 1st-12th grades.

Multi-level Teaching   by Kathie Morrissey
There are no easy answers to teaching a number of children of different ages, and there’s no doubt that doing so is a real challenge that requires patience and creativity. Though we may feel it’s pushing us to our limits, it provides opportunities for our kids to learn responsibility, independence, and self-control. Kathie Morrissey, mother of 8 children, will share many practical tips and ideas to make your job easier and your school time with multiple students more productive.

Closing Keynote
Homeschooling in Michigan: Past, Present, and Future  by Israel Wayne
The modern-day homeschooling movement has taken America by storm, with nearly 2 million students now being homeschooled nationwide. Michigan has gone from being one of the most restrictive states in regard to homeschool freedom, to being one of the very best places in the nation to homeschool! In this message, you will learn the unique story of the history of homeschooling in Michigan, how God has providentially led us to the freedoms we enjoy today, and what we can do to help maintain that freedom.
