The president and CEO of Answers in Genesis, the highly acclaimed Creation Museum, and America’s latest major tourist attraction the Ark Encounter (with a life-size Noah’s Ark as the centerpiece, south of Cincinnati), Ken Ham is one of the most in-demand Christian speakers in North America. This includes being a keynote speaker at the prestigious National Religious Broadcasters convention (2016) and over the years filling the pulpit of First Baptist Atlanta, Bellevue Baptist (Memphis), Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, and many other influential churches.
Ken is married to Mally, and has 16 grandchildren. Meryln Beard & Paul Case, Youth Arts Coalition
Merlyn has been a music educator for twenty-five years and with his wife, Cherub, founded Oakland Homeschool Music, thirteen years ago. Paul founded Home School Music Association more than twenty years ago. Both Merlyn and Paul are the fathers of homeschooled children, and have been in the forefront of working to provide music education and opportunity for home educated students.
Jeff co-founded Worldview Academy and serves as the research director for that ministry. He served as the humanities chair for Providence Classical School in Spring, Texas as well as headmaster at Steadfast Christian Classical School in Colorado. Jeff was the creative editor for Understanding the Times by David A. Noebel, and co-authored the Understanding the Times curriculum. He is the author of numerous books including The Deadliest Monster and The Twelve Trademarks of Great Literature. Jeff is also the general editor for Worldview Academy’s premier educational website, TheGreatBooks.com, providing guides that help educators teach a classic work from the Christian perspective; works range from Homer’s Odyssey to John Milton’s Paradise Lost. Jeff’s articles have appeared in World, Teachers in Focus, and New Attitude, and have been broadcast on Charles Colson’s radio program, Breakpoint. Jeff and his wife, Linda, and their three children live in Colorado.
Carol and her husband Jim homeschooled their son from 1st–12th grade and their daughter from K–12 using a variety of teaching options. The Becker’s son has just completed a master’s degree in Information Technology from Virginia Tech after completing a BS in Systems Engineering at UVA, and their daughter earned a BA with Highest Distinction in French from UVA. As a new High School Consultant for HSLDA, Carol relishes the opportunity to encourage and equip homeschooling mothers because they are raising the next generation of leaders.
During Carol’s homeschooling years, she established two homeschool cooperatives. The first encompassed History/Geography/Drama and ran for eleven years accommodating students from grades 2-12. With a BS and MS in Engineering, Carol also has a passion for science, which led her to form and direct a science cooperative when her son entered the high-school years. She successfully guided a group of dedicated mothers and homeschooled scholars through Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
Convinced that homeschoolers must develop and hone analytical writing skills, Carol has shepherded two different groups of homeschooled students through a three-year original high-school English program consisting of Composition I with Lit., Composition II with American Lit., and British Lit. She also taught Algebra I & 2 and Geometry. Over the past eight years, Carol has coached high school juniors and seniors from the public schools to successfully tame the Timed SAT Writing essay, and she currently tutors writing students from middle school, high school, and community college.
Rick & Marilyn Boyer
Rick and his wife, Marilyn, are among the early trailblazers of the homeschooling movement. Known for his humorous, folksy style, Rick has been called “the Will Rogers of the homeschooling movement.” They have taught all of their 14 children from kindergarten through high school. Their passion for putting Christian character at the top of their educational priorities resulted in the creation of the Character Concepts curriculum. Rick and Marilyn have written several popular books on homeschooling, Christian parenting, and national reformation. Linda is gifted at transforming the daily God-moments from her life into unforgettable, hilarious, practical lessons to which people can relate. She has a heart for the Lord and a desire to encourage other mothers to laugh and learn in the center of the chaos and joy children create. There is never a dull moment when Linda is encouraging others! Two of Linda’s books are published: Laughing in the Midst of Mothering and Laughing in the Midst of Marriage. She has also been a contributing author for Konos curriculum and has written historical biographies for Bramley Books, a division of Knowledge Quest. Linda and her husband Rick have been homeschooling their four children since 2001 in Phoenix, Arizona.
After serving as a children’s pastor for over 10 years, Josh transitioned all his vocational energies toward KidMin Science. Josh is a seasoned educator with BA in Chemistry Education, a MA in Effective Instruction, and earned National Board Certification in Young Adult and Adolescent Science. As a former High School chemistry teacher, Josh melded his love for Science and Christ, creating “The Amazing Chemistry Show”, a traveling gospel-centered stage show with fire, explosions and foam. Carrying this Ministry of Chemistry even further, Josh created three “Science VBS” curricula.
Luke Gilkerson, Intoxicated By Life
Luke worked as the Educational Resource Manager at Covenant Eyes for over 8 years. He received his Masters degree in Religion from Reformed Theological Seminary.
Luke, along with his wife Trisha, has written numerous books on homeschool, parenting, and Bible studies for families—including his best-selling book The Talk: 7 Lessons to Introduce Your Child to Biblical Sexuality. Luke is also the teacher of the popular and exciting online science course for homeschoolers, Experience Astronomy.
Rick & Kara have homeschooled for 15 years & live in Texas with their 4 kids and daughter in law. Rick was homeschooled himself, served 2 terms in the Texas Legislature and is a nationally known speaker, attorney, radio host, and author. Rick & Kara founded Patriot Academy, an elite political & leadership training for ages 16-25.
The Greens have spent the last 15 years traveling the country for David Barton’s WallBuilders organization, speaking to crowds as large as 10,000 people, teaching on the Constitution and inspiring families to understand their Godly Heritage and their duty as citizens. By bringing history to life in an entertaining way through their TV show, Chasing American Legends, the Greens have been able to teach people about history’s forgotten heroes and take the viewer on an exciting journey through some of the most impactful stories that birthed our nation.
Stephen Kallman, Kallman Legal Group
Stephen was admitted to the Michigan State Bar as an attorney in November of 2011. He is following in his grandfather and father’s footsteps as a third generation attorney at Kallman Legal Group, PLLC.
Stephen graduated from the home education program of Noah Webster Academy in 2003. After playing Division I basketball at Maryland Eastern Shore University and Cleveland State University, he finished his undergraduate studies at Michigan State University receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Pre-Law/Business Administration in 2008. He then received his Juris Doctor Degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2011. He graduated Cum Laude and made the Dean’s List and Honor Roll every term while in law school.
In February of 2012, Stephen testified in front of the Michigan House of Representatives in support of House Concurrent Resolution 11 which would support the Parental Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Stephen is coauthor of a law review article published in the Liberty University School of Law, Law Review entitled, ” SUICIDE KILLING OF HUMAN LIFE AS A HUMAN RIGHT — The Continuing Devolution of Assisted Suicide Law in the United Kingdom” (6 LIBULR 27 (2011)). In 2001 Stephen received a scholarship to attend the Freedoms Foundation’s American Leaders Youth Summit in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He also attended the two week Summit Ministries Worldview Conference in Manitou Springs, Colorado that same year. Stephen married his wife, Paige, in 2010. Stephen and Paige’s son, Tyler, was born in the summer of 2014. Paige is a Registered Nurse and they live in the Lansing area.
Kathy has been dedicated to the well-being of young children for over 25 years. As a former teacher and a administrator, Kathy has extensive experience in the field of early childhood education. Kathy is the mother of ten kids, both biological and adopted. She enjoys sharing her journey of imperfect motherhood, inspiring others to parent intentionally and authentically. Kathie Morrissey, The Character Corner
Kathie is the mother of 8 children, wife to Alan for 35 years, and a committed homeschooling mom of 30 years. She is the founder of The Character Corner, where she loves to blog about parenting, family life, homeschooling, and life in general. Kathie is a popular speaker at homeschool conventions and support groups, family seminars, and ladies retreats. Her heart’s desire is to help and encourage parents to be purposeful in raising Godly children with strong Christian character, who walk in purity, and have a heart for God. Dr. Sandi Queen has been homeschooling her six children since 1986. Lesli is a humorous and engaging author and speaker with a decade of experience in homeschooling. Lesli is currently Director of Challenge B for Classical Conversations of Cumming, Georgia. Sherri Seligson and her husband, David, have homeschooled their four children for 21 years, recently graduating their youngest child. A degreed marine biologist, Sherri worked at Walt Disney World’s Living Seas, publishing shark behavior research. She has authored Apologia’s Exploring Creation with Marine Biology and Interning for High School Credit, instructional DVD courses for Apologia’s Exploring Creation with Biology and The Human Body, as well as companion curricula for feature films including Dolphin Tale I and II and War Horse. Ruth began her homeschool career with 5 words, “We’ll give Kindergarten a try,” Sixteen years later, she graduated the last of 4 children. Ruth has undergraduate degrees in English and Interpersonal Communication and a Master’s Degree in English from Truman University in Missouri. Mike has been married to his wife Kim for 28 years. They are the parents of ten children, ages 6 to 23, all homeschooled, with four graduates so far. Mike and Kim also have one granddaughter and another on the way. Mike and Kim met while attending Hope College, where he received his BA in Religion. Since college, Mike has worked as an associate pastor, insurance agent, and insurance company manager, but has served in full time ministry for the past 18 years with CBMC—Connecting Business Men to Christ, as a spiritual coach for business and professional men.
